“The Melrose Collection” Brings Vintage Waldorf Astoria Furnishings to Raleigh for Unique Sale
Tickets on sale now for December 10-13, 2020, preview event at the historic Melrose Knitting Mill in Raleigh to benefit The Green Chair Project
Raleigh, NC – Deliveries have been quietly arriving at 309 N. Dawson Street in Downtown Raleigh over the last weeks and it’s almost time to open the doors to guests to explore and shop the curated collection of vintage furnishings, most from the famed Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City. The collection will be shared and the first opportunity to purchase will take place during a ticketed preview event, Thursday, December 10, 2020, through Sunday, December 13, 2020, on the second floor of the historic Melrose Knitting Mill at 309 N. Dawson Street.
In light of social distancing, a maximum of 10 guests will be welcomed into the showroom during one-hour ticketed intervals during the preview event. Tickets are now available online at MelroseCollectionNC.com/shop for $20 to benefit The Green Chair Project, a Raleigh-area nonprofit that reuses donated furniture and household items to change the lives of those in Wake County who are facing the challenges of homelessness, crisis, or disaster. Ticket sales and 10% of furnishing sales during the preview event will be donated to The Green Chair Project. Light refreshments will be served.

After the preview weekend, private showings will be available by appointment, offered between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., daily. Showings can be requested online at MelroseCollectionNC.com/contact.
A wide assortment of furnishings comprises the collection including tables, dining chairs, mirrors, sofas and loveseats, armchairs, bars, sconces, lighting fixtures, bathroom vanities, and other stately pieces – some items dating back to when the hotel first opened in 1931. Of note, many pieces were originally created right here in North Carolina by several well-established furniture manufacturers and are now returning to the Old North State for the first time in decades. Over 200 pieces have been gathered as part of the collection. As many of the pieces as possible will be made available online for long-distance shopping after the preview weekend events.
For discerning shoppers, white glove delivery, installation services, and restoration services are available to assist with ensuring each piece continues a long tradition of being enjoyed for many decades to come.
